EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: Triumph was a motorcycle superpower in 1970, with its range of 650cc twins highly fancied around the world. There were three versions of the 650 back then, virtually identical apart from colour schemes, pipes and carburettors. Steve McQueen loved his Trophy — and rode one to great success in desert races and the ISDT — Evel Kneivel did unnatural things on a Bonneville, while the Tiger was a big seller thanks to it’s single carb (easier tuning and better fuel economy). All three are sought-after nowadays, with the critical elements being originality and condition. Whether you’d like a classic old Trumpy to ogle in the shed (or the lounge-room if you’re single) or you’d like to cruise the suburbs and pose at your local cafe, this one looks like a beauty.
