EDITOR TERLICK SAYS:  Ah, the memories! When Honda released the CB750 at the end of the 1960s, the immediate reaction was one of awe. It was so smooth, so slick, so well-made, so .. modern. Disc brakes even! But when the initial worship died down (a bit) a few brave souls started to grumble. Yes, all the upsides really were as good as everyone said but, truth be told, it wasn’t exceptionally fast — a well tuned Trident or Commando could give a Honda Four a good run for its money — and the handling was actually not as good as the British bikes, let alone the Italian exotics. And so entered British brothers Derek and Don Rickman, already quite famous for their frame-building exploits, mostly for putting British twins to work as scramble bikes. The Rickman Honda Four (and later Z1 Kawasaki) really delivered the ultimate bike of the era. Virtually all the Rickman-framed Japanese bikes were treated to high-performance engine upgrades along with the Rickman frame and running gear, resulting in a bike that delivered speed and handling as good or better than anything else on the road. The Rickman kits were very expensive, so they were not a common sight. And the same holds true today. This bike of Adrian’s  looks like a marvellous example, capturing a truly memorable time in history with one of history’s most memorable machines.
