SELLER SAYS: The Yamaha SRV250 was a “retro-theme” bike created by Yamaha in 1992 to 1996 to pay homage to the café racers and bikes in general of the 1960s and 1970s. The V-twin engine is based on the Virago cruiser of the time but sports twin carbs and hotter cams for a few extra HP. This particular unit was in excellent condition when purchased, but I treated it to some minor improvements. Work done included:
– New chain & sprockets (1 tooth larger on the front)
– New oil & filter, air filter
– HEL braided front brake line & HH sintered metal pads
– IKON rear shocks
– Genuine mirrors & handgrips
– Carbs stripped, cleaned, re-assembled & tuned by Retro Moto in Fremantle
Completely original, apart from the aftermarket 2-into-1 exhaust. The bike is currently on full WA licence. Contact Greg on 0432 838 276 (Mandurah, WA)

EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: Is it just me, or does that double-cradle frame look like an old Norton featherbed? Yamaha went to lot of effort to give these little early-1990s cafe racers a bunch of old-world styling. That front disc brake was a giveaway, but analogue clocks, a round headlight (yay!), very cafe-esque seat and tank, stalked indicators and twin shocks definitely come together well. The V-twin engine, as noted above by Greg, comes from the 250 Virago but was breathed-on to coax some more horses. The aftermarket exhaust system, especially the header from the rear cylinder, also brings a touch of Harley to the show, I reckon. All up, it looks like a great compromise between old-school styling and modern-day reliability and functionality, delivering a late-20th century interpretation of the mid-century cafe racer. Cool.
