EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: One for the collector indeed! There was a time when Ducati owned the market of exotic top-shelf twin-cylinder sports bikes — expensive, focused, stunning to look at, verging on the edge of perfection on the racetrack or twisty mountain road, and boasting a drool factor that bikes made in Japan, England or America somehow could never quite match. Aprilia’s big twin sports bikes stood toe-to-toe with Ducati back in the early 2000s, offering the same moto-sex appeal and, thanks to even smaller production numbers, even more exclusivity. Both manufacturers have since moved on to four-cylinder engines in their top-flight sports bikes (hhmmph!) giving their earlier twins even more collector value than they had before. This bike of John’s looks like a superb example of the breed, and near the pinnacle of two-piston performance-motorcycle evolution. Just glorious. Read more here.
