SELLER SAYS: A very tidy two-owner bike in excellent condition. I have all the service books, red key & spare, service DVD, sales brochure, genuine Yamaha MT-01 concept book. Service receipts. Some spare oil filters, front sprockets, indicators etc. It has a quick release pack rack & lower rear bar, quick-release tank bag mount and been fitted with a centre stand, phone & GPS charger which is great for touring. Recent service and tyre replacement. Bike presents and rides very well with no performance modifications. This is my 2nd MT-01 but it’s time to down size to a lower, lighter bike. EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: You want muscle? We got muscle. While the raw numbers of 90 horsepower and 150 Newtons don’t sound big today, Yamaha’s MT-01 was born to be a quarter-mile hotrod. And it was, but also fabulously found its niche as a town growler and highway cruiser. In 2008, an MT-01 scorched down the quarter mile at the Western Sydney International Dragway in 11.77 seconds at 113.57mph (182.77kmh), setting a new Aussie record for a twin-cylinder motorcycle. I suspect no-one was surprised. It was really a Japanese version of Triumph’s modern Rocket and Ducati’s Diavel, years before either of those bikes had been conceived. Perhaps the big Yamaha, with a motor nicked and pumped from the big XV1700 tourer, inspired the others. The bike only ran from 2005 – 2012, making early ones surprisingly rare in top condition, like this lovely bike of Andrew’s appears to be. Learn more here.
