SELLER SAYS: Possibly the very last MT-01 delivered in Australia, being sold and first licensed by Yamaha City in Melbourne on 4th January, 2014 – although the VIN plate date is January 2011. The bike is in superb condition having only done about 19,700km. The long stroke v-twin is an easy starter every time with the factory fitted de-compressor system. Air cooling, hydraulic lifters and EFI makes for longevity and simple maintenance. MT-01s are always fun to ride with arm stretching torque, six-piston front brake calipers and a remarkably comfortable seat. It sounds like a big 1670cc v-twin should, looks great and has a ton of character. Runs and rides perfectly, comes complete with its toolkit, keys, manual, service record and has just had a Castrol full synthetic 4T 5W-40 oil change and filter. WA registration to July 2023. EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: When first released in 2005, Yamaha’s ballsy MT-01 hit the market as a Muscle bike with a capital M. Boasting top-quality suspension, brakes straight off the R1 sports bike and — much more importantly —  a hulking great 1670cc V-twin engine delivering 150 Newtons of torque at just 3750rpm, it was a short-shift thriller. It was also hellishly expensive — a fact that can be held largely responsible for sales figures much lower than Yamaha had hoped for and, therefore, rarity in the second-hand market today. This bike of Trevor’s looks like a near-perfect example, with extra-low mileage and clean-as-a-whistle presentation. If you’ve always liked the idea of a Harley V-Rod or Ducati Diavel, but prefer made-in-Japan thanks all the same, we reckon you’d fall in love with this. Cool as.
