MV Agusta 350B for sale

SELLER SAYS: This is a lovely example of one of the last MVs to leave the factory before they stopped production bikes. Although its showing 31,000km it has had an engine rebuild a couple of years back by the previous owner and it is running really well and a joy to ride with handling and power you wouldn’t believe for a 50-year-old 350cc classic. Has been on club registration in Victoria which won’t be transferable. The bike has been owned by an MV enthusiast and is ready to ride. Showing the slight patina of its age, this is a machine with the charm of unrestored and unmodified examples of this truly iconic motorbike. EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: I must be getting old. After spending a lot of years besotted by big fast exotic sports bikes, I’m now finding myself besotted by smaller, slower bikes that handle beautifully and look magnificent. And the more time I spend pondering small and mid-size sports bikes, the more I find myself wondering why we bothered to evolve past two cylinders and 100 miles an hour. And if ever there was a case in point, here it is. Yes, MV Agusta built it’s own big-bore multi-cylinder sports bike, and if I ever rob a bank or start dealing in meth I will probably buy a 750S. But truth be told, I’d probably have more fun on a 350B. Like most bikes out of Italy in the early ’70s, MV Agusta’s 350B was not especially sharp in term of creature comforts or cosmetic quality control. They were built for speed, not comfort, and came from a company whose marketing strategy was built on the old “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” mentality. And while the twin-cylinder push-rod engine was low tech, even for 1972, it was enough to push the bike beyond 90mph, and it handled superbly. And, of course, it is a work of art. This bike of Stuart’s looks to have survived its 50-plus years very well indeed, with a healthy mix of originality and contemporary maintenance making it a good fit for the man-cave collector or the weekend club rider. Very nice indeed.
