SELLER SAYS: Up for sale is a very original Moto Guzzi v65TT. 41,000km. It had been sitting in a friend’s shed for about five years or so, he needed some money and I purchased it as a project. I replaced the drive shaft as the uni joint was not good and while I had it apart I inserted a protective metal sleeve in the swingarm, cleaned out the front and rear calipers, replaced all brake fluid, all new oils in diff, gearbox, engine and new oil filter, new pod filters, carbys soni-cleaned, fitted Dyna electronic ignition, new left switch block, new Tomaselli throttle and new tyres and tubes. SELLER SAYS: This bike has been in covered storage for approx. seven years and has a super low 9000km on the clock. It has passed the pits inspection and is ready to be registered. In 2007, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati GT 1000, a litre-class machine developed by the House of Borgo Panigale, aimed primarily at the American market. The bike packed a 43mm fully adjustable inverted Marzocchi fork on the front and twin spring preload-adjustable Sachs shock absorbers on the rear, delivering excellent suspension performance and handling. SELLER SAYS: Honda CBX1000. August 1978, Australian-delivered. I’ve owned this bike since Dec 1996 and it has been through a few ‘birthdays’ since then to bring it to what it is today. Time to let someone else enjoy this classic. Currently on club rego. In pretty much standard trim with Delkevic replica exhaust, KONI shocks and Hella H4 insert to smarten things up. The cam cover, exhaust flange collets, footpeg brackets and the lower triple clamp have been ceramic coated. Frame was powder coated, paint done on the first iteration and seat cover replaced. I’ve just had the head off to replace a pesky leaking exhaust valve (OEM valves) and fitted Viton stem seals, so it’s all fresh up top. When the engine proper was last apart in 2016 parts list included new starter clutch rollers and new clutch rubbers. This has been a regular rider on club outings, it is a pleasure to ride. Odo shows ~ 96,400km, I’ve done about 25,000 of those. SELLER SAYS: Restored 1923 BSA. Restoration completed around two years ago. Motor does go, but it is hard to get the settings right, as with most of these old girls. Most parts have been sourced from the internet but a lot of parts have been made by me. The motor and frame have identical numbers, all frame parts are stamped with BSA and frame number. New tyres fitted, new seat cover done by saddler along with tool boxes. She is pump-out oil system to ground and lubricates chains etc. Have ridden up the road a few times; throttle and gear change are hard to get your head around, but seems to go alright. EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: How nice is this? Stretching way back near the dawn of motorcycling, when bikes were still a curious mix of car and pushbike functions, and designed mostly to just get a person (and some tools or paperwork) from point A to point B quickly and cheaply. It’s also from an era when the Birmingham Small Arms Company was still on an upwards trajectory, remembering that by the 1950s BSA was more dominant in the motorcycle marketplace than Honda is today. It’s said that, during that era, about one-quarter of motorcycles sold in any one year was wearing a BSA badge. And that’s a global fact, not just a British one. But even in the ’20s, BSA was a powerhouse and one of Britain’s most successful companies. The war had been especially good for business. A company that makes rifles and solid, reliable motorbikes was sure to do well! This bike of Ian’s certainly looks the goods, and appears to still be carrying many original parts — extraordinary, considering the old girl rolled out of the factory more than 100 years ago. Perfect for the tinkerer with a heart for history, and a head for concentrating on all those levers without crashing into the car in front! Beautiful.

I bought and recommissioned the bike in early 2023, aiming to keep some original patina whilst restoring or replacing badly deteriorated parts. At this time the engine was rebuilt, (by V-Twin) including reconditioned crankshaft, new pistons and reconditioned cylinder heads. Tank, side covers, mudguards and fairing were repainted and new decals applied. Frame was sand blasted and repainted, chrome parts re-chromed and new Conti mufflers fitted. SELLER SAYS: One of the most sought-after and rare bevel-drive Ducatis, the square-case 1976 750SS is a highly desirable but usable classic. Less than 300 of this model were built. This WA-based bike had a full cosmetic and mechanical rebuild by Vee Two Australia around 10 years ago and has done barely more than 1000 kilometres since. Everything on this bike works as it should. There is the odd small bit of corrosion and minor marks from storage but it’s a usable classic that will only increase in value from here. SELLER SAYS: This DT1 was a true “barn find” that was lovingly and painstakingly restored to better than brand new condition. No expense was spared. At a recent Mecum auction in the USA, a very nice (although not original) example achieved the extraordinary price of US$14,000 + 10% buyers fee (equivalent to AU$22,000+). EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: There are not many vehicles in history with a production run that spans 30 years — but Norton’s generation-long Model 18 is such a thing. It might be that Mr Norton himself — James Lansdowne ‘Pa’ Norton — oversaw the design of the very first Model 18 in 1922. Pa died just three years later at the tender age of 56, so the 18 was undoubtedly a family and company favourite, with the old man’s fingerprints all over it. And it was a big success, both on the racetrack and the sales room floor. Robust, fast and fitted with those new-fangled overhead valves, the 490cc single broke a bunch of speed records and racked up many trophies, most notably at that favourite storming ground through the decades, the Isle of Man. Although they were a big seller, that was a very long time ago! Accordingly, opportunities to buy one don’t come along every day. This bike of Rob’s looks like a beauty, ready to give its new owner a regular blast from the past.

EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: Ducati guru Ian Falloon’s much-loved “Original Ducati Sport & Super Sport – The Restorer’s Guide” is one of the most well-worn books in my library. It’s a marvellous guide, full of facts and insights that Falloon has accumulated over many years of Ducati research. It slowly and painstakingly documents the evolution of the twin-cylinder Ducati sports bike, ending with the final big bevel-drive Duke, the 1000cc (Mille) Mike Hailwood Replica. So, guess what’s Chapter One? Yep — the 750 GT. This is where Ducati’s glory days began; when it morphed from European small-bike curio to global pin-up machine. Ducatis had always been beautiful to look at and glorious to ride, and the marque won many a racetrack trophy with its single-cylinder engines. But the brand wasn’t really taken seriously until it released the 750 — it’s first L-twin — to take on Japan’s then-new generation of multi-cylinder machines and the various respondents. And the 750 GT was a hit from the start. Simple, light and fast it created both a worthy competitor for the big Jap bikes but also an engineering and stylistic differentiator, it’s impeccable handling and wonderful L-twin motor going toe-to-toe with the multis for many a year. This bike of Rob’s looks like a stunning example of one of history’s most memorable bikes, with just some finishing off for the road (or another coat of carnauba wax and Autosol for the man cave). SELLER SAYS: The last of the 750SS were built in 1978, with only 100 being produced by the factory. This bike was built for Ashley Beaton (North Coast V-Twins) as a racer back in 1979 and was raced at club level for 2 seasons. The paintwork, made popular by Ken Blake on his roundcase 860 at Bathurst in 1975, was applied in 1978 and has been on the bike since then. Because it reflects the bike’s heritage, I’ve left it that way. Fitted with the Imola tank, the bike has very distinctive lines and always attracts onlookers when parked. It was rebuilt at North Coast V-Twins when its racing days were finished and then spent its life largely as a household ornament, being ridden less than 1000km in the 5 years since. I have added only another 8000 or so km in the 10 years I’ve had it. Non standard equipment – apart from the paint – includes Mikuni flat slide carbs (40mm DellOrtos supplied), Sachse ignition system and coils, right hand gear change (no sloppy cross-frame linkages). The bike is serviced and maintained fastidiously – oil and filter changed every 2500km – and really is a delight to ride. (Aldgate – Adelaide, South Australia)

Miller’s early days had him aboard an Ariel, but his skills and reputation saw him recruited by Bultaco (to help the Spanish firm build the wonderful Sherpa T), and then Honda to spearhead it’s TL range — and effectively to champion the spread of the sport across the world. And it worked a treat. Sammy played a hands-on role in the development of Honda’s trials bikes and the sport spread like wildfire. With Sammy out front, Honda created an ever-increasing market to sell its TL125 and TL250. SELLER SAYS: 1976 Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans for sale. This bike is the very first year of the LeMans models, also known as a series 1, Mk1. Build date is June 1976. The bike is best described as an unmolested survivor. I purchased the bike in 2010 after it had been in storage since 1994. Once in my possession, the motor, gearbox, diff and forks were stripped to replace the seals, gaskets, etc. While it was apart it was fitted with a fresh set of rings, new clutch springs and selector spring for the gearbox. The brake master cylinders were rebuilt and the callipers fitted with anodized pistons. For the past ten years this bike has been used regularly on club runs whilst on historic rego.
