Worse still, tired of people not even noticing when you buy a new bike? Well, you’ll have none of those problems with this one! With its very green hi-viz colour scheme, bug-eye headlights and a big shock absorber where you’d expect to see a frame downtube, the BMW Rockster is bound to draw attention wherever it goes. Based on the excellent (but rather boring) R1150R, the Rockster was created by BMW to join the naked roadster market segment and add a bit of attitude to its line-up. Not surprisingly, like the (excellent but rather boring) R1150R, the Rockster is pure BMW – well made, comfortable, and very competent at carrying rider and pillion a short distance or a long one. The 85-odd horsepower is plenty for overtaking or having some fun, and the low boxer engine keeps the weight down low so it feels lighter than it really is. That odd-looking shock absorber up front is the heart of BMW’s Telelever front suspension. I spent quite a bit of time aboard a K1300R which had the same system (and same funky headlights, come to think of it) and it worked very well indeed. Very cool.
