WORK continues on a project to create a ‘motorcycle friendly region’ in the Avon Valley.
With the agreement now signed for acceptance of $16,180 of Royalties for Regions Community Chest funding and the support of all seven Avon Valley local governments (Beverley, Chittering, Goomalling, Northam, Toodyay, Victoria Plains and York), organisers say it’s “full steam ahead” creating a regional map that highlights bike-friendly eateries, accommodation and attractions, along with useful details such as fuel stops, rest stops and local road information.
The map will be the basis for the placement of road signage and information boards throughout the region, along with an online presence.
It was initially envisaged that the project would be launched this month, however, with the opportunity to partner with the York Motorcycle Festival, the official launch has been delayed until April 2017.
Riders who would like to keep in touch with the progress of the project, and also be available to give informed feedback on draft maps, can connect via the Avon Valley Motorcycle Friendly Region Facebook Group here or via email avmcfr@westnet.com.au
