NEW show & shine categories, the return of the Rustic Off-Road Rally for vintage motorcycles and a new Friday night bonfire are among the features of The Bike Shed Times Capel River Classic Show & Shine 2024.

The event will bring together some of Western Australia’s best veteran, vintage and classic motorcycles, competing for trophies and bragging rights at the beautiful Capel River property, Ironstone, home of the Ironstone Adventure Riding Club, on Saturday October 5th.

Event promoter and The Bike Shed Times editor Peter Terlick said the event would be “a celebration of classic motorbikes”.

“There will be trophies on offer for bikes entered in the Show & Shine, but this event is more than a competition; it’s a celebration of the relationship between old motorcycles and the people who ride, maintain and restore them.

“It’s an opportunity for the West Australian motorbike community to get together in the middle of the forest, enjoy a pie and a coffee or a beer in a beautiful location, and put our favourite classic bikes on display for everyone to see.

“Even if you don’t want to enter the Show & Shine competition, bring your classic bike out for the day anyway and let us all admire it!”

Peter said this year’s show & shine categories included two separate classes for dirt bikes, plus a class dedicated to pre-1945 machines.

“We will have a total of ten categories catering for any motorcycle manufactured prior to January 1, 2000, including three separate Best In Show awards — one chosen by event judges, one chosen by public vote, and a new Editor’s Choice award,” Peter said.

“Every bike entered in the show & shine will be eligible for the Best In Show awards.”

Property owner and Ironstone Adventure Riding Club spokesman Jeremy Connor said he was delighted to again be hosting the event.

“We actually cancelled the event at one stage when it seemed we would not be able to satisfy Main Roads WA requirements for property access, but logic has prevailed and we’ve found a solution that has satisfied all parties.”

So mark it in your diary — make a day trip to Capel River or make it part of a south-west weekend getaway.
