1973 Laverda 750 SFC Replica – $35,000

1973 Laverda 750 SFC Replica for sale

SELLER SAYS: This bike is an accurate replica of Laverda’s very successful 11000-series 750 SFC which were made in 1972. It performs as well or better than the original and looks as outstanding as they did then. Built as an SFC from a 1973 SF1, this bike has a comprehensive SFC parts list which includes SFC high compression pistons and 5/C cam, close-ratio gearbox and competition 2/1 factory racing exhaust (with removable baffle for road use). SFC bodywork includes; 24-litre fibreglass tank, seat, fairing, mudguards and rear-set gear and brake lever assemblies. The front brake is a four-leading shoe Grimeca used in competition (the Laverda front brake/wheel also comes with the bike). Suspension is the original (refurbished) Ceriani front and rear that work brilliantly. The bike also has a GPS speedo. Although very true to its racing origins, this bike is a delight to ride on the road with a very tractable engine, truly superb handling and functional instruments, switch gear etc. Currently on Vic Club Permit plates, registration is not transferable. The actual mileage of the bike is not known. The original SF1 body parts come with the bike. Contact Phil on 0417 242 381 (Wodonga, Victoria).

EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: When the Laverda company – famous at the time for making agricultural machinery – decided to have a crack at building motorbikes in the late 1940s, it wanted its machines to be visible on the race track. It wanted to get noticed. And get noticed they did. Right from the start, Laverda’s bikes were painted bright orange — and bred for race track duties, with a high-visibility high-performance recipe. It didn’t take long for the bikes to start attracting attention for something else — winning. The company built its own engines from the early days, unlike most fledgling manufacturers which tended to borrow established engines, and they did a very good job indeed. By the time the Laverda machines had grown to full size (650cc and then 750cc twin), the combination of ample power, brilliant handling and class-leading brakes made them an exotic and potent machine for the race track. The 750 SFC was the most desirable of them all. Less than 600 were made, a fact which explains why high-quality replicas have become collectible in their own right. Originals are very expensive indeed, as you’d expect from such beautiful rarity. This bike of Phil’s looks like a wonderful replica, with great attention to detail and a long list of genuine SFC parts. It’s almost certain to find a new home with a collector, but we fervently hope it will get to frequently sing its music through that gorgeous two-into-one exhaust! Beautiful.
