1981 BMW R100RS – $16,000
SELLER SAYS: In mid-2022 I went looking for a classic bike to do a Big Lap (round Australia via Highway 1) and found this beautiful 1981 1000cc airhead in the shed of a collector in Melbourne. It was built as a R100TIC (with a very accurate TIC Police Special Speedo) but is badged as an R100RS, and has an R90 fairing fitted. BMW Ringwood did some work to get a RWC before I rode it to Brisbane where Mark Morrissey reconditioned both top-ends and installed a Wedgetail electronic ignition system and an electronic coil. The trip happened in mid-2024 and the bike performed flawlessly, gathering lots of attention along the way. It had a service and tune-up in Perth and another at BMW Ringwood which included new Avons and new front and rear wheel bearings. I rode it back to Brisbane in early 2025 and it’s been stored under a cover in my garage ever since. I’ve got another project underway so it’s now time for a new owner and new adventures. I have had it detailed by Clean Ride in Geebung and with a new fairing screen fitted it looks beautiful. I’ve got maintenance and overhaul records going back to 2014 and can guarantee the odometer reading of 129,999km. It comes with BMW touring panniers, original tool kit, owner’s manual and a cover. It is also fitted with a handlebar mount for a Garmin zumo XT2 Navigator. It starts from cold instantly and is in A1 condition. Whether your next ride is to the Robertson Pie Shop or the Roebuck Bay Hotel, this bike will get you there safely and in style. It is registered on Victorian Club Plates which are not transferrable.
