TRIUMPH has unveiled its 2016 versions of its two Speed Triple variants.
Bug-eyed and naked with the trademark Trumpy 1050 triple engine, the new Speed Triples offer switchable ABS and traction control and, Triumph says, 104 changes to the engines with more power, increased torque throughout the rev range, and better fuel economy.
Engine changes include a new combustion chamber, new cylinder head, a new machined crank, new piston design and new ‘Ride-by-Wire’ throttle bodies. Additional developments also include a slip assist clutch, smaller, more efficient radiator and a new free-flowing exhaust that has a 70% increase in flow rate.
The R model gets Ohlins suspension front and rear, a bellypan, and a smattering of carbon fibre bling.
Expect to pay around $17.5k for the S and an extra $3k or so for the R.
