Ducati 750F1 for sale

SELLER SAYS: 1987 Ducati 750F1 Laguna Seca for sale. Rare bi-posta (twin seat) model and probably the lowest km’s of any Laguna Seca in the world, although I believe there might be one in New Zealand still boxed. This bike has travelled only 308km (190miles) and has been under a blanket almost it’s entire life. The indicator stalks have perished. The mirrors and spare sprockets are still wrapped. It has the race muffler. The road muffler is with it. It hasn’t run in over 35 years. I’m told the belts and things probably need attention. I purposely kept it as found, “stopped-in-time”. An opportunity to own a very, very rare Laguna Seca. This is one for the true collector. Contact John by email at johnjet1950@gmail.com (Western Australia)

EDITOR TERLICK SAYS: Yes, it really does have 308km on the clock. And yes, I believe it’s legit. John invited me to inspect this bike at his property, so I got to watch him pull back the blankets for one of it’s rare open-air experiences, enabling me to have a look and take these photos. John told me the bike has had three owners, the second of whom did most of the 308km riding between Perth and Mandurah. The bike’s fourth owner will get to decide whether to maintain it’s as-found state, or undertake some recommissioning work to put it into service. For those not aware, the Laguna Seca was one of Ducati’s rare 750F1 specials, commemorating Marco Lucchinelli’s victory at the Battle of the Twins race in Laguna Seca, California. Ducati claimed 95 horsepower from the 750cc engine and a dry weight of a tiny 155kg. Ducati guru Ian Falloon has this to say about the bike: Over 30 years-on the limited edition 750 F1 is now almost forgotten. These were the last Ducati air-cooled race replica twins. Noisy and uncivilised, they had no place in a new order dictated by governments and regulations and more sanitary models soon replaced them.
