Shane Arden from Bega in NSW has recently checked in to report his cool-as-can-be 1962 Triumph Thunderbird, advertised for $11,650 on The Bike Shed Times last month with an Editor’s Comment, Facebook post and extra photos, has sold.

“Thanks for the advertisement,” Shane said.

“The ’62 Triumph Thunderbird was successfully sold today.

“Most contacts via FB marketplace were clowns, and it was painful — but all contact through my advert on The Bike Shed Times was pleasant and fruitful. Much appreciated!”

Editor Peter Terlick said Shane’s successful experience was not uncommon.

“You can advertise your classic bike on any number of free forums on the internet, and you can reach a big audience that way,” he said.

“But the aim of the exercise isn’t to reach a lot of people — it’s to sell your bike; and that requires reaching the right people.

“Shane paid $100 for his advert, and now his bike has moved on to another classic bike enthusiast.”
